"Alright class, thank you for coming to the first day of class. I ask that you please return my books to my desk before leaving and enjoy the rest of your day," he said, looking out at his class. He hadn't realized so many were going to come, maybe he needed a larger class, or to split it into two. A whole eighty students came, though maybe by tomorrow, there'd be less seeing as some students are the type to get demotivated by the first day. "And bring back a three inch parchment of the basics of healing!" he said, before the students began to leave.
Finishing up his new class with a bit of difficulty, he sat down in his chair. Wow, he didn't realize teaching was so hard. No wonder Declan was getting flack for it. If Evan could barely get through with it, there was no way Declan could be a great teacher, either! But, thankfully, Evan's subject was his life. Healing. He was asked by Dumbledor to provide a class for a month or two on the art of healing for anyone in the fourth year and up who were interested in healing.
However, he was a bit worried about teaching, and not just about the students. Due to teaching for a bit, he couldn't make all his house calls. Though he did give his clients some local healers in their area, he tended to worry a bit too much. Like Tally, in the USA was suffering from a nasty curse from an item she bought off a shady character. He couldn't get rid of it -seeing as it was dark magic- but he was able to keep her feeling better. Or Sam, a young boy in France who broke almost every bone in his body, and even severed an arm. Poor kid.
He leaned back in his chair and counted the returned books with his eyes. Good, they were all here. Seeing as it was a short term class, he bought the books himself. It wasn't any trouble. He had more than enough money to spare. Most of it went to Eudora, but she avoiding him quiet a bit after his confession of love to her that he actually saved a large sum of cash up. He hadn't realized he spent that much money on her. Any ways, he just didn't want anyone to steal the books. By the end of the class, he might just give them to the library for whenever he wanted to come back and do this sort of thing again. Or if someone else wanted to do it as well.
He sighed. School. This was surely a magical place. Even though Declan wasn't that great at teaching, he should be greatful for the fact that he was able to be here in a place that was so innocent, so well protected and loved.

Genevieve had signed up for an extra class. There would be no stress for her since she excelled in class and didn’t really have to try. All the drama was done, for the most part, and now all she had to deal with was getting Sirius Black out of the closet. Otherwise, she just did her homework, shagged her boyfriend, and did her nails. Not only that, but the person who was teaching the class was someone whom she had grown an odd, strange, and probably frowned upon relationship. But not frowned upon in the sense that another certain hairy student was involved in. Just frowned upon in that he was strange and she was strange and the combination of the two strange people was potentially quite dangerous to the sanity of others.
The man she was talking about was none other than Mr. Evan Rowley. It was weird to be calling her professor since she was so used to just calling him Evan, but she didn’t mind that much. It was the first class since he came to the school and she thought he did fairly well. Better than his creepy mate, at least. Once class was over and everyone left, Gen brought her book up last and set it on his desk with her usual perky smile. ”Well done, Professor,” she said with a wink. She sat on the top of a desk that was opposite of Evan’s new teacher’s desk and crossed her legs daintily.
”In honour of your first class, I made you something special,” she said and dug into her bag. ”Or rather, I bribed my younger sister, Cassandra, to make them. Considering she’s in Ravenclaw, that girl cannot outsmart me when it comes to bets.” She laughed somewhat maniacally to herself when she pulled out a box, that she wrapped herself, might she add, and handed it to her friend. Inside there was a lovely collection of heart shaped peppermint cookies, decorated with icing and sprinkled. ”February is quite possibly my favourite month. I adore Valentine’s Day and I get to torture Keegan with cheesy little Valentine’s things for twenty-eight days of delightfulness.” She was quite happy at the prospect of being Keegan’s girlfriend for Valentine’s Day this year. Sure, she’d gotten cards and flowers and chocolates from boys before, but she’d never actually had a boyfriend on the date. Hell, she was fourteen. she knew plenty of girls who hadn’t been kissed yet and weren’t even worrying about it. But she was still chipper.
”Now tell me, have you told Eudora about your feelings? Are you planning some lovely Cupid’s surprise for your lady love? You better be or I’ll have to smack you, regardless of you being my professor. My violence knows no bounds,” she warned with a nod.

Evan smiled as Gen came up, last, and set her book on his desk. Oh, small, young, powerful Gen. She was a wonder, that was for sure. He enjoyed her presense; she reminded him of Eudora when she was in school. However, this girl had also blackmailed his best mate and told his brother about his affair, who told Declan's wife. Well, not anymore. Eudora had just sent Evan a copy of the divorce papers. Though he was glad she did, he was sad she hadn't taken him up on his proposal about starting a new life with him. Hopefully, she didn't think what he did was a joke, or took it lightly. Though they still did hang out a bit, he could still see she was still a bit tense from his confession. Thank god he was away from it all, for now.
"Thank you, Miss Laurent,"" he replied with a grin, watching her take a seat while he moved some papers around his desk. Should he start working on the next day's lesson? After dinner, he decided, excited to eat Hogwarts food in the first time in a while. Maybe they had custard. "Oh! Wonderful! I love gifts! However, I missed getting a Christmas present for you. Oh well, I guess this will do. Did you enjoy the present I sent to you?" he asked. There was this girl that loved to make dolls. Since he bought so many from her, she often did speical requests for him. He remembered getting dolls for Isabelle, as well, and she loved them. Or maybe Gen found them weird? Oh well, she didn't get him a present, so she couldn't complain!
He opened the box and pulled out a cookie, taking a bite of it. "Delicious," he said, swallowing. He listened to Gen talk about Valentines day, but didn't really bother to take in what she was saying. Valentines day had always been a cruel reminder he hadn't found that special girl to spend it with. He always wanted to spend it with Eudora, but seeing as that had yet to happen, this month was just going to be as painful as the last ten. Hm, but what about Declan and Jo? He assumed they'd be doing something nice, seeing as they were head of heels for each other. It was kind of cute, really, once you got past the age difference.
"Oh, well..." he said, his mood going down. "She rejected me. Well, she rejected me, then ran away from me." He sighed and taking another bite of one of the cookies. "I took her to Hawaii. Well, I picked her up in France, that's where she lives, THEN we went to Hawaii. I ran off to do a quick house call then came back. We did a bit of shopping and then I took her to a dinner on the beach. Now, you're probably going to kill me for this, but while we ate dinner, I told her that I loved her and then presented the divorce papers to her". He paused, looking at Gen for a reaction. "I feel wrong about loving a married woman. I needed her to sign the papers. Declan needed her to sign the papers. You might know women better than I, but I don't see why she wants to hold on to her failed relationship. I'm willing to help her through it, but..." he trailed off. "I guess she just doesn't like me."

Genevieve grinned. Although Evan was many years older than her, it was still weird for her to call him professor since she had gotten to know him, and most of his personal life, before he became her professor. She assumed it was probably equally odd for Evan, but Gen also knew that she didn’t think he was the sort of person who would be bothered by it. She certainly wasn’t going to let it throw her off. She was one of those weird cookies who had problems with boundaries. Not so much as Evan’s friend seemed to have, but enough that it meant she talked to pretty much whoever she damn well pleased even if she got extremely weird looks while doing so.
”Edible gifts are some of the best gifts,” she said with a knowing nod. With such a small waist, it was a miracle that she could pack away as much as she did sometimes. ”I loved it! I named her Buttons,” she nodded. ”Don’t mind me. I loathe Christmas. I’m the biggest Grinch. But I make up for it during February! You’ll be more likely to get gifts from me when Cupid is the air,” she said with a nod. Considering she was rather selfish, one might think she loved Christmas, but she hated it.
Gen’s smile fell from her face. ”What? Wait, what? Why? Why the hell would she reject you?” she asked. It wasn’t making any sense to her. Sure, she didn’t really find him all that attractive, but he wasn’t terrible looking. Maybe if she was older and had a thing for really nerdy awkward dudes, she’d go for him. But he was funny and sweet and caring and there was no reason the girl should have said no. Genevieve shook her head, not accepting a bit of this. ”You speak as if you’re defeated,” she said, and slid off the desk. She paced around with her hands on her hips, her Gryffindor skirt swishing, as she tried to make a plan. If there was one thing Gen was good at, it was scheming.
Oh, how it was nice to be plotting evil again. Well, not evil. She actually wanted him to have a relationship with Eudora. ”Did she sign the papers?” she asked. ”Even if she ran away, she might have been scared or conflicted. But if she ended up signing the papers, it means there’s something there. If she signed them, then you got through to her, even if it took awhile. Tell me, man, did she sign them?!” she asked, smacking the top of his desk. Oh yes, she would be a badass lawyer or some crap like that. She was very loud and assertive.

"A grinch? Fine. But I expect lots of gifts this month, then," he said with a s smile, not really meaning it. Sure, it was nice when he got gifts, but he didn't care about that too much. What he found joy in was giving to other. Just another reason he became a healer. And not just the gift of health, he liked to give out presents as well to friends, and maybe a memorable patient or two, or a family who lost a loved one. In case it was the money maker they lost, he would often send them money and a gift basket. It was just the kind of guy he was. "More cookies like this would be nice."
Evan shrugged when she asked why Eudora rejected him. "I have no clue. Maybe she doesn't like me because I'm Declan best mate, or she doesn't find me attractive," he said, though he was a bit sure he didn't find that last one right. She always made comments about how he should take his clothes off or that he was attractive, but while talking to Gen, all he could do was say what came to mind. "Or maybe she's just always considered me as a friend and she doesn't want to change that, or cant see it any other way," he said, thinking that was a bit more possible. He was always there for her. Maybe he just was too deep in the friend zone to be anything more to Eudora. Maybe it was finally time to move on and find someone else. But who?
"I am defeated, Gen. I can't change her mind for her. I already spoil her with gifts regularly. I don't think me sending her chocolates or flowers will do much help. I don't want to push myself on to her," he said, shaking his head. "Unless you want to start sending her letters yourself, feel free." he told her. Then she began to talk about the papers. "Well..yes, she did. But not then. She signed them this month and sent me a copy of them via owl. I don't see how that's relivant now," he told her, slightly confused.

Genevieve grinned her usual mischievous smile. She was always up to something, that was a fact. It just so happened that for the first time in her life, she was up to something that was specifically to make people happy and feel loved. ”You will not be disappointed,” she promised. She raised a brow and nodded. ”Duly noted, kind sir, more cookies will certainly be part of your gifts. You do look awfully skinny. I’ll have to fatten you up. Then you’ll be so curvaceous you’ll be the most sought after healer in the world. Women everywhere will be breaking their ankles just to see your pretty smile,” she said, teasingly of course. Not that he was unattractive, but she didn’t know a single woman that would go through that pain just for a man. Unless you counted childbirth.
She frowned at the idea that the woman would have rejected Evan. She honestly never thought that would happen. Then again, Gen was the sort of girl that was never rejected by anyone. Except Sirius Black, but she was convinced he was gay, so that was another story entirely. ”Hey, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t like you. Women are complicated creatures who often send complicated signals that are too, well, complicated for the simplicity of the male mind. It’s not your fault you’re a man,” she said with an sympathetic nod. ”She could just be so clouded with the idea of divorce that she thinks it’s too early to be thinking of another man. She could be wrestling some intense inner goblins.”
The thought of sending Eudora letters was appealing to her, but she had another idea. ”Would you be opposed to me meeting her?” she asked. Why Eudora would agree to meeting some kid she’d never heard of was a bit far fetched, but she could spin it some way. ”She must know Keegan, and I could use the excuse that I wanted to get him something awesome for....I don’t know, being a wonderful boyfriend, but that Declan clearly doesn’t like me and I don’t want his siblings ruining the surprise,” she said, thinking of the most random yet logical idea that wanted to surface in her brain at that current point in time. Gen’s face lightened into a satisfied smile. ”If she signed the papers, that means she really is done with Declan. And if she signed the papers, it means she’s single. It means you can be her prince charming and rescue her from the heartbreak of having such a horrible husband that would cheat on her with a teenager. You could be the one who stood by her through it all, and although she might not realise it now, when she finally does realise her true feelings for you, you’ll be right there to scoop her up in your arms forever.”
