BOOT had developed a crush on ABBOTT since their fourth year. He never got enough courage to say anything to her though. They were friends and nothing more. Plus, she never gave any indication that she viewed him as more than a friend. In their fifth year, when news spread that her mother had been killed by Death Eaters, BOOT started writing to her anonymously. She didn’t reply. It might have to do with the fact that he sent out the wrong letter in which he detailed the numerous ways he was attracted to her instead of asking how her mother was. That might have seemed a little strange and certainly not a letter he would want to receive after the death of his mother.

But when they started their seventh year, BOOT decided that it was time. It was time to tell ABBOTT that he had feelings for her. Except he couldn’t. BOOT was deathly afraid of rejection. Instead, he did the next best thing. He got a mutual friend to introduce them and started talking to her regularly. He and ABBOTT talked about the most random of things during their impromptu meet ups, or so she thought. It was a few weeks later that he finally told her how he felt.

ABBOTT was taken by surprise and started rambling on about how this was not something she expected, how she thought he was a lovely person but she wanted to be just friends and somewhere along the line, let slip that she had someone else in mind. That someone? ABERCROMBIE. BOOT wasn’t about to give up though. He still saw her regularly, though admittedly the conversation was more awkward than before, hoping to change her mind. One day, BOOT chanced upon ABERCROMBIE and ABBOTT together in the courtyards, laughing and looking like they were having a great time. BOOT, for the first time in his life, felt jealous.

What will BOOT do now? Will he approach ABERCROMBIE and tell him about ABBOTT’s feelings? Or will ABBOTT tell ABERCROMBIE herself first? Or will she give BOOT a chance? What about ABERCROMBIE? Does he view ABBOTT as just a friend or more?
